The lines between hometown heroes, villains, thieves, and pirate kings are all blurred in the waves of history. Edward Teach also better known as Black Beard made his hideout in the deep waters of Beaufort N.C. while traveling the Carolinas evading the Queen's Navy. He made his final stand just off the coast with the intent that it was a fight to the death and no quarter would be given to prisoners of the battle in 1718. Legend say that after his head was cut from his body, the devil swam around the ship three times before sinking to the bottom.
